The Marown Ploughing Match Association held its Marown Royal ploughing match on Saturday.
Chairman of the association, David Corlett, explained how the event got its name.
He said: ’Going back many years when it was a big event, all the dignitaries used to turn up and they put on a good feed for them and somebody said: "Well, that was a right royal ploughing match".’
This year’s event was held at Ballamillaghyn, at Mount Rule, courtesy of Tri-Star Farms and Graham Pickering. Denis Quirk and John Dobson were the judges.
The prize presentation will be held on Thursday (November 11) at Peel Golf Club and there will be a full list of results on next week’s Food & Farming pages.
