As tribute bands go, they don’t come much louder or heavier than this.
DC/AC have boarded the rock *’roll electric tram and are heading to Laxey for two concerts, which will shake the little village to its foundations.
The island’s top AC/DC tribute band will appear at the Laxey Working Men’s Institute on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 February.
Featuring the blistering talents of guitarist Paul Daugherty, who flawlessly imitates the famous guitar style of Angus Young, and singer Adrian Bruce, together with drummer John Cleator, and rhythm guitarist Kevin Cleator, the band will play a rare set of concerts away from TT or Manx Grand Prix week.
The two gigs will also allow the band make their own tribute a member of AC/DC who died late last year.
’It will be good to get out on stage early in this year,’ said bassist Dick Raine, who is also a member of tribute bands Ed Force One and Pigs On The Wing.
’We don’t get to play that often as DC/AC, so it will help us get ourselves into gear.
’And we can also pay our own tributes to Malcolm Young, AC/DC’s rhythm guitarist who has sadly died. We’ll play a few songs for him.’
Tickets for the shows, which begin at 8pm, with doors open at 7pm, are £15, and are available from Rodan’s pharmacy, New Road, Laxey. There is no bar, but you bring your own refreshments.
