A member of security staff at the airport was found to be working without a required work permit.

Noonan called in the work permits division after an internal audit found a member of staff had no work permit.

A spokesman for the Department of Infrastructure said: ’Bidvest Noonan recently took the correct action of contacting the work permit committee after a manager conducting an internal audit discovered one member of staff had no work permit.

’An application was subsequently submitted and a work permit has been received.’

It’s not the first time that Noonan has been the focus of alleged work permit breaches.

A check by the work permits division at the end of 2018 found two security officers didn’t have a permit as required. The affected staff went home of their own volition, concerned about working illegally.

A duty manager was also found to have been working since June that year without a permit.

Eleven government-employed aviation security officers took redundancy last year after the service was contracted out. Noonan took over the extra role of boundary security, its Resource subsidiary having carried out passenger, crew, staff and vehicle searches at the airport for the last five years.
