Having spent four long years in recording and production, the new album from an island-based singer songwriter is released this week.

Prolific performer and songwriter Alex Harris releases his second solo album, ’The Promise’ today (Thursday).

The album features nine original tracks, recorded and self-produced by Alex and Dave Rowles, who also played bass on the album, and is described by Alex as ’unashamedly, catchy, radio-friendly rock and pop.’

’Throughout my music career, playing both here for the last 10 years and in the south of England for more than 20 years before that, I have been in many different types of bands, from indie, punk-pop, funk, though to Radiohead and Primal Scream-type groups,’ said Alex.

’I just wanted to find the consistent themes through my song writing.

’It came down to writing simplistic, catchy, melodic tunes. I have always wanted to write a pure radio-friendly rock album, with that classic "West-Coast’ sound.

’I don’t want it to pretend to be anything it’s not. I just want the songs and melodies to sing for themselves.’

Joining Alex and Dave on the album are drummer Philip Groves and workaholic guitarist Gary ’Nell’ Kneale.

He was also joined by Liverpool-based singer Francesca May,for the song ’Trying to Catch Your Heart’, which along with the song ’Like A Runaway’, has already been released as a taster single, and has already been featured on some of the local radio stations.

’For me, the songs just flow. I have taken my time with the lyrics, and I have made them the most honest, genuine lyrics I could.

’That’s why it has taken four years to come out.

’I actually wrote the bulk of this in 2015, but then I ended up spending more than four years producing it.

’I wanted to make sure the album was the best that I could make it. I didn’t want to stand for the first thing we came out with.

’I have gone back over and over some of these songs, remixing and adding in bits here and there, and basically kept on going back to the drawing board until I was totally happy with it.’

’The Promise’ is available as a download, from iTunes, Amazon, Google, Spotify and the Alex Harris Bandcamp page, along several other original albums and EPs.
