Featuring three stages and a wide range of family entertainment and games, and a giant, eight foot robot, Cyclefest. which takes place at Milntown near Ramsey, is promising to be bigger and better than last year’s successful inaugural event.

’Roots and Rhythms’ is the title given to the line-up of music on offer, and it showcases some of the finest talent that the island can offer, along with choice acts from some of the UK’s best breakthrough talent.

Headlining the huge event and providing the ’rhythm’ element of the line up, is the island’s own blues star Davy Knowles, finishing off his UK and European tour in fine style on the PokerStars mainstage, before heading back across the pond for a series of American dates.

Mabon, the hugely popular folk group featuring adopted Peel man Jamie Smith, will headline the Sunday evening.

Both days will feature William the Conqueror, a British indie blues band that have more than a hint of Americana about them, and The Elephant Sessions, a terrific blend of folk and contemporary sounds that will have the crowds bouncing.

An exciting development is the creation of a second Village stage, sponsored by the IoM Arts Council, and who will feature a range of local and British talent, including Trip, an exciting new Scots folk group, featuring the island’s own Isla Callister-Wafer.

Other groups featured over the weekend are Manx group Mec Lir, award winning Country and Americana courtesy of Laura Oakes, Flats & Sharps and Katy Hurt, and exciting breakthrough artists Dan Bettridge, Kizzy Crawford and Danielle Lewis.

Be prepared for Titan. The huge silver robot has been entertaining families and making many appearances over the past couple of years, and has been described as ’hysterically funny’, and ’thrillingly entertaining’. Coupled with varied family entertainment throughout the park, and a wide range of food stalls on offer, the festival promises to have something that will appeal to all.

Tickets for Isle of Man Cyclefest can be purchased on the gate at Milntown estate for Saturday and Sunday with adult day tickets starting at just £11 and tickets for children over five are £5.50, with concessions for weekend and family passes.
