An amber warning remained in place this afternoon as the Ronaldsway Met Office issued the following weather update.Still the risk of isolated wintry showers this evening and early tonight, chiefly confined to the far north of the island, but otherwise generally dry with clear intervals and light winds allowing a widespread frost to develop with ice on any untreated wet or damp surfaces. Temperatures falling sub-zero in many places and as low as minus 4 Celsius on the hills but then slowly lifting a few degrees late in the night as the wind freshens from the east.Rather cloudy at first tomorrow but mostly dry and becoming brighter with some sunshine for the afternoon as the wind swings northeast and slowly moderates. Top temperature just about 4°C. And the Isle of Man Constabulary also issued this updated weather forecast up to 6pm tomorrow (Sunday):
Still some wintry showers to come this afternoon, evening and overnight but chiefly confined to the north of the Island with only isolated showers expected across central and southern areas. Any showers will fall as a mixture of hail/sleet/snow and will leave a further covering on the ground with snow lying above about 500ft
Fresh west or northwest winds will fall light this evening with a widespread frost developing and icy conditions on some untreated roads, temperatures will fall below freezing in many areas and as low as minus 4 Celsius over the hills. Temperatures will lift later in the night especially in eastern areas as the wind freshens from the east or southeast
A few flurries of sleet or snow are likely for a time tomorrow morning especially in the west, but amounts are expected to be small, the rest of tomorrow should be dry.
Temperatures will rise during Monday and Tuesday bringing with a thaw of any lying snow.
