The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for coastal overtopping tonight.
The areas likely to be affected are:
Shore Road Rushen, Castletown, promenade
The northern end of Douglas Promenade
Laxey Promenade.
Near-gale force south-westerly winds tonight with result in moderate coastal overtopping around the time of high tide later today at 11.10pm, leading to significant amounts of sea water and debris being brought onto exposed locations.
Then, with strong winds continuing for the following high tide at 11.30am tomorrow (Monday), further moderate coastal overtopping will occur around this time.
WHAT DOES "AMBER WARNING" MEAN?
Risk of severe weather impacting on work, schools and travel. Some disruption and damage in places. Risk of injury.
The forecast:
A few showers on Monday morning, then outbreaks of rain in the afternoon.
The strong southwest wind will veer northerly later in the afternoon. Top temperature 10°C.
Sunny intervals but also a few showers, which are likely to be wintry on Tuesday. With top temperatures only up to 5°C but feeling very cold in the strong northerly winds.
Then a fine day on Wednesday.
