One of horse racing’s premier events, the Aintree Grand National, will feature Manx born Amy Jackson as the Ladies’ Day ambassador.

Millions of people across 125 countries tune in to watch the festival, and 50,000 attend Ladies’ Day tomorrow, known as Fabulous Friday, but Amy is unlikely to be fazed by the scale of the event.

The model and actress has risen to stardom through her work in the Indian film industry. Based in Mumbai, Amy has over one million followers on Twitter.

Born in the island, she spent the first three years of her life in Colby until the family moved to Liverpool when her dad, former Manx Radio presenter Alan, got a new job.

The 27-year-old recently announced she and fiancé George Panayiotou were expecting their first child.

Her Liverpool roots mean she remains close to the city and the races. She always watches the Grand National wherever she is in the world. Amy loves fashion and - conveniently- horses and is pictured with the 2012 Grand National winner, Neptune Collonges.

Alan said Amy still visits the island, ’she doesn’t stay long because of her commitments, there might be more time now she’s expecting a baby and she’s taking things a bit easier, she might be over.’
