Lift facilities have been introduced at King’s Court Theatre thanks to significant financial support from Manx Lottery Trust and Friends of King William’s College.

The theatre at King William’s College opened in September 2015 and has been the subject of a programme of refurbishment, incorporating new lighting and sound systems, in order to provide a perfect venue for productions, concerts, live streaming events and corporate presentations.

Manx Lottery Trust, as delegated partner of Big Lottery Fund, awarded a grant of £25,000 towards the cost of the lift, with £15,000 coming from the Friends of King William’s College organisation.

King William’s College principal Joss Buchanan said: ’The inclusion of a lift is part of a long-term development project for the venue, with plans to construct a cloakroom and a bar this term.’

’In just two years, King’s Court Theatre has established itself as one of the island’s leading venues and we are keen to build on that success.’

Theatre manager David Dawson said: ’We are so grateful for the support we received from Manx Lottery Trust and Friends of King William’s College.

’The lift will help more people enjoy the wonderful productions and live screenings we have on offer, due to this improved access.’
