Plastic duck racing is to return to Laxey.
It is going to be a bigger event than in the past, when ducks were raced down the river on Glen Road.
It was not held last year because of the pandemic.
The new event will be held on August 21 on the washing floors of Laxey Valley Gardens.
There will be bouncy castles, food stalls, local stalls, a Bushy’s beer tent, live music, two performances by the Purple Helmets motorcycle display team as well as the duck races.
Businesses and individuals can support the premier of the Bushy’s Senior TT Duck Race by sponsoring a £200 duck.
This will be followed by the Junior TT Duck Race where the general public will be able to buy a ticket for one or more ducks in the chance of winning £150 for the first duck to make it to the finish line.
Director of Laxey and Lonan Heritage Trust Justine Ball said: ’After a tough year for the LLHT the Great Laxey Duck Day Races will not only help the trust raise much-needed funds to continue the restoration and conservation of island’s industrial heritage but also provide a great opportunity for local businesses; and attract more visitors to the area and raise the village’s profile.’
