The Isle of Man Arts Council (IoMAC) has announced the recipients of its annual student awards for 2021/22.

Awarded to students moving into or currently in further or higher education, the three awards are each worth £10,000 over the duration of a course.

The Jonathan Gollow Award for Performing Arts has been awarded to Joshua Morrison, who will be attending the Rambert Conservatoire in London to study for his degree in ballet and contemporary dance.

Joshua said: ’It has been always been my dream to attend a prestigious dance school and Rambert was my first choice.

’Winning this award will hopefully encourage other young boys to follow their passion for dance and show them that with hard work, dedication and belief in yourself you can achieve anything.

’It is also a testament to my dance teachers on the Isle of Man and my family who have always been a huge support.’

The Norman Sayle Award for Visual Art and Literature has been awarded to Jack Gentry, who will be attending Cardiff Metropolitan University for a BA (Hons) degree in product design.

Jack said: ’Receiving this award gives me the chance to have a worry free first year to settle in and focus on my studying at university.

’After two years completing my A-level courses during a global pandemic it lifts a massive worry and strain off me knowing that I can start uni life without the financial worries that go alongside student life. For this I am really grateful to the Isle of Man Arts Council.’

The IOMAC Award has been awarded to Kizzie Puzzar who will be studying for a BA (Hons) in the music business and event management at the BIMM Institute (British and Irish Modern Music) in Brighton.

Kizzie said: ’Receiving this award has honestly been life changing; so much stress has been lifted off my shoulders and I feel extremely honoured to have been the applicant chosen for the award.

I’m excited to learn about new ways to make an event run smoothly and it really feels as though a lot of my hard work in my chosen field is being rewarded and that is very validating!’
