If you’re a fan of all things music wise that slants towards the Rockabilly end of the spectrum, you may want to head to Amber, on Douglas Promenade on Saturday.

Mad Daddy head over to the Douglas venue to showcase a variety of raw and obscure covers of rock ’*’ roll hits from the 50s skiffle era plus their own original tracks.

The band line-up features Dolyn Clucas-Morris of Mr. Eliminator and The Deadly Vipers fame on guitar and vocals with Simon Morris on drums, Fergus Hook on harmonica and James "Elvis" Palooka on bass.

The doors for this free event open at 8pm and the band hit the stage just after 9pm.

More can be found on Mad Daddy on their Facebook page.

Head next door to Jaks on Saturday night and you’ll find Penthouse Dive making what’s now one of their regular appearances there.

The three piece band that features Mark Riley on guitar and vocals, Mark Cleator on bass and Mark Brabbs on drums play covers from the likes of ZZ Top, Foo Fighters, Bad Company, Thin Lizzy and the like.

This band certainly proves itself popular on the covers circuit and are well worth checking out if those influences sound like your tonic for a good night out.

For more information on the band and any of their forthcoming shows, head to their Facebook page.

Also out and about this weekend is Konstruktion.

Billed as their last two gigs before TT 2018, the duo that features Joy White on vocals and Nige B on keys and vocals head to The Creek in Peel tomorrow (Friday) and The Sidings in Castletown on Saturday.

That band has its roots in live versions of dance anthems from the modern chart to ’old skool’ classics.

If a little bit of Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Rihanna and Lady GaGa at one end through to Diana Ross and Tina Turner at the other end of the spectrum takes your fancy then this will be well worth a look at.

Head to their Facebook page to find out more.

Finally this week, we make a special mention regarding our very own Baad Acid who were outstanding as support to the mighty Primal Scream at the Villa Marina last Wednesday.

The band, featuring Jamie Marshall on vocals and bass, Leigh Mitchell on guitar and Brian Brough on drums and keyboards, more than stood up to the task and delivered a set of electric, psychedelic drone pop brilliance.

There is a review and photographs of the gig in this week’s Examiner.

Excellent work guys.
