Two benches have been placed in Sleeping Angel Wood in memory of two babies, Alfie and Ruby.
Sleeping Angel Wood in Colden forest, West Baldwin, is for parents and families who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or neo-natal death.
They can plant a sapling there which will have a plaque with their baby’s name on it.
The aim is to provide a place where people understand their loss and where no baby will ever be forgotten.
Tori Smithies from the charity said: ’Because Alfie and Ruby’s mums, Mora and Christina, had raised so much money for us, the Sleeping Angel Wood team decided to dedicate the benches in memory of their little ones.’
Christina Cowin lost baby Ruby at 20 weeks but has gone on to have Reuben who is now 10 months old. She and her husband Martin brought him along to see the bench which has his sister’s name on it.
Christina said: ’It is very important to us to always keep Ruby’s memory alive as well as helping others.’
Mora Bosendorfer’s first baby, Alfie, was stillborn at 38 weeks after what had apparently been a textbook pregnancy. Now, in happier times, she and husband, David, have Daniel, seven, and Lily, nine.
