One of the island’s top primary school choirs landed a dream spot on stage at the Villa Marina last weekend.
Forty pupils from Ballacottier school were given the chance to sing with the classical vocal group Collabro, when they appeared at a fund raising concert at the Royal hall on Saturday.
The choir, led by choirmaster Katie Lawrence, joined in with Collabro with ’The Circle Of Life’ and the group’s own song, ’Lighthouse’, as well as performing three songs on their own and accompanying soloist Alexandra Slater.
’The choir had a brilliant day and night on Saturday,’ said Katie. ’They sound checked with Collabro in the afternoon and had photos taken. There was even a bit of joking about two of the guys not being that much taller than the tallest girls of the choir!
’They performed three songs, ’One Moment In Time’, ’Revolting Children’ and ’The Prayer’. They were delighted to receive a standing ovation! ’They have worked incredibly hard and I’m really proud of how each and every one of them performed.
’There are definitely some stars of the future amongst them.’
The concert was organised by Junior Achievement, and Chief Executive , Sue Cook, said that the performance of the choir and Alexandra, alongside Collabro, made for a memorable evening.
’This is the second time that Collabro have visited the Isle of Man and we were delighted that they agreed to come back to support the work of our charity,’ she said.
’The concert, which was sponsored by SmartHR Solutions, has raised £8,500 to support the work of Junior Achievement in the Island’s schools. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported the concert.’
