The long-awaited statues of the Bee Gees are to be unveiled today.

They will be placed on Loch Promenade between the first and second marine gardens.

Mayor of Douglas Jon Joughin will do the unveiling to the public.

Also in attendance will be the sculptor, Andrew Edwards, and his project team.

Mr Edwards has previously crafted statues of the Beatles and Cilla Black in Liverpool.

David Christian, Douglas council leader, said the seven-foot design was ’going to be a major focal point’ on the promenade. He also said they would look as if they’re ’walking off the prom, across the new Promenade roadway and into Regent Street’.

Born in the island, the Bee Gees are famed for hits such as ’Stayin’ Alive’ and ’Tragedy’, selling more than 120 million records worldwide.
