The Camra Isle of Man Beer and Cider Festival will raise money for the charity REACH at this year’s event.
Organisers choose a different charity each year to benefit from the proceeds of the weekend and chose REACH, which helps people undergoing mental health problems.
REACH was formed nearly a year ago by local footballer Adam Hudgeon, who has suffered anxiety and depression in the past.
The organisation has received charitable status on the island and Adam now dedicates himself full-time to helping others re-gain control of their lives.
REACH is an acronym standing for Reflect, Embrace And Create Hope.
A sppokesman for the festiuval said: ’Mental health issues have rightly been highlighted over recent years with Princes William and Harry among other high-profile figures helping to raise awareness of these hitherto ignored or dismissed problems.
’Camra [the Campaign for Real Ale] is happy to support REACH and help its invaluable work. The charity will have representatives at the festival who will be more than happy to explain in detail their work within the island’s community. They will be delighted, too, to accept any unused beer vouchers or contributions.
Cask sponsorship is again available this year at a special two-for-one rate.
The festival is being held at the Villa Marina’s Royal Hall over Easter from Thursday, April 9, until Saturday, April 11.
There will be more than 150 real ales, ciders, perries, fruit wines and mead on offer.
Tickets are available now from the VillaGaiety box offices, 694500, the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal, on-line at www.iombeerfestival.com
