Supporters who donated to the Queen’s Pier restoration project will have a chance to walk onto it this weekend and view their sponsors’ plaques.

This Sunday, May 2, is ’View your plaques day’ for sponsors of the bay 2 and 3 planks and stanchions.

However, as the pier is not yet approved for public access, groups of up to 10 can book a 15-minute slot as available between 2pm and 5pm either by email to [email protected], calling in to the pier office between 9am and 12.30pm or phoning 477062.

If all sessions get booked up the viewings can spill over onto Bank Holiday Monday.

Project manager Stuart McKenzie said: ’When contacting us we need to know name, how many in party, preferred slot if any and the location of the plaque which is on your certificate.

’When you visit please bring your certificate if you can find it, wear sensible footwear and stick to your quarter hour slot so that everybody can enjoy their visit.’

The Queen’s Pier Restoration Trust signed a five-year lease with the Department of Infrastructure in 2017 to refurbish the first three bays of the Victorian landmark.
