The trouble-prone diesel loco moves again...

It was lifted off its bogies ready for them to be sent off, for a second time, to the UK for repairs.

Isle of Man Heavy Cranes Ltd was called in to carry out the big lift on Wednesday.

After years out of service, diesel no. 21 - bought for £420,000 in 2013 - re-entered service last September.

But then one of its motors had to be disabled due to an earth fault and in October the loco failed due to a power problem.

Chief engineer Andy Cowie said: ’The diesel loco is being lifted off its bogies to allow planned investigatory and maintenance work to take place on one of the motors.

’The bogies are being returned to the contractor. Following investigatory and maintenance work, and any necessary repairs, the loco will return to service next season.’
