The driver of the bin wagon which crashed into Governor’s Bridge dip has been confirmed as being in a stable condition.
Kevin Stark, a Ramsey Commissioners’ employee, was driving the wagon when it crashed on Monday during Storm Brendan.
While the wind was initially believed to have played a role, Mr Stark’s wife Catherine confirmed on social media that he had in fact suffered a bleed on his brain which caused him to have a seizure and lose control of the vehicle.
Mrs Stark said she had posted the status because of ’Facebook speculation’.
She told the Manx Independent: ’We are currently in Walton hospital awaiting a scan to check the bleed again and decide on treatment.’
She had previously asked people to ’please be considerate of his family’.
’Myself and our four children are devastated and any speculation is just causing more heartache,’ she added.
