Following its annual general meeting, the Southern District Agricultural Society, organisers of the Southern Show, has announced that Bryony Vernon has been elected as president of the society.
In becoming president, Bryony is following a family tradition: her father, Stephen Gawne, and her grandfather, Raymond Gawne, are both past presidents of the society. She is married to Charlie Vernon whose family own the Cushag Stud, breeding Welsh Mountain ponies which are seen regularly at the show.
Former show secretary Sarah Comish was elected vice president at the meeting; Zoe Hampton continues in her role as show secretary and Angela Teare is treasurer, making it an all-female team.
