Buck’s Road in Douglas has reopened after roadworks were completed there early.

The road was closed to traffic between Rosemount and Demesne Road from Sunday, March 5, for gas main replacement works which were originally thought to be going to last for 11 weeks.

But Manx Gas have finished the work ahead of schedule.

The road opened again to traffic at 5pm on Saturday.

Major works were completed by Manx Gas on Friday, a month ahead of schedule.

The work, which was divided into three phrases, was to replace the mains pipes on Buck’s Road between the Rosemount pub and the junction with Circular Road.

We previously reported how the project had clashed with work to resurface the southern end of Douglas promenade as well as various other ongoing roadworks around the island.
