Buildings around the island will be lit up in red on Friday (December 1) to mark World Aids Day.

Isle of Man HIV Support Group has arranged for the Legislative Buildings, Douglas power station, Ramsey swing bridge and Ramsey courthouse to be lit red in the evening.

Red ribbons have been given to the police and Tynwald Members to wear.

A group spokesman said: ’This is the sixth year the island has marked World Aids Day by lighting the island red and we are grateful for the support we receive. This has been possible with the kind permission of Tynwald President Steve Rodan, Ramsey Commissioners, the DoI and Manx Utilities.’
