The boss of Bushy’s village says rival Hooded Ram’s festival licence blow is bad for the TT.
But he says the licensing bench had no choice but to reject the application - and it seems ’crazy’ that Hooded Ram didn’t withdraw it before it went to court.
Martin Brunnschweiler said: ’My view is that this is really going to be detrimental for the TT.
’People who travel to the island have been used to seeing things happening on the Bottleneck for the last 22 years.
’I also feel the authorities were put in a very difficult position.
’They had no choice but to refuse the application because of all the unknowns.
’Hooded Ram should have withdrawn the application. They couldn’t have expected it to be granted. It seems crazy.’
He said there was no alternative now but to use the Bottleneck as car parking this year but he hoped to see signs showing visitors there was entertainment further down the prom.
He added: ’I hope it does not reflect on the TT festival as a whole.
’Ultimately it benefits the event to have something happening there as it brings more people into Douglas. I hope things can get back to normal next year.’
Mr Brunnschweiler said the only difference it would make to the Bushy’s TT village at the Villa Marina gardens was that the ’full’ signs might go up a little earlier.
Asked if he was hoping for another sunny TT, he said: ’I am but we’ve taken measures in anticipation of rain.
’Don’t let it spoil your fun - put on your wellies and think of it as a mini-Glastonbury!’
