Between 20 and 25 people are set to lose their jobs at Ronaldsway Aircraft Company.

The company said in a statement that the focus of the business ‘has been changing in response to the developing requirements of our customers, consistent with today’s aerospace industry.

‘As a result, we have been working to develop both new opportunities with our existing customers and seeking new customers to engage with, and we have had initial success in both activities.

‘However, while we need to continue recruiting to expand our technical base to support these new opportunities, there are other areas of the business where we believe we are now over resourced.

‘While we have been retraining and redeploying staff where possible, it is now apparent we cannot avoid a formal restructuring process. We expect the number of roles affected to be between 20 and 25.

‘We will work through a full consultation process with all our employees and offer support to anyone affected.’

There will be an interview with chief executive Nigel Brown in the business pages in Thursday’s Manx Independent.
