A firm of chartered accountants is celebrating the first anniversary of its free small business accountancy clinic.
The weekly clinic was set up to provide help to budding entrepreneurs in the first stages of starting their own business.
Browne Craine directors James Sayle and Craig Mitchell have been leading the initiative.
James said: ‘Over the last 12 months we’ve seen a good take up in our no obligations clinic from a diverse range of small businesses in the island.’
‘We’re also seeing more and more unique businesses starting up which means we are exploring new business and industries every day and looking at ways we can make their processes more efficient meaning they have more time to focus on their business.
‘We’re really keen to help local entrepreneurs and start-ups as much as we can as it can be a daunting time, but of course, a very exciting time too.’
The accountancy clinic is open every Thursday, except between the Christmas and New Year holiday, between 2.30pm and 5pm at Browne Craine’s office, Burleigh Manor on Peel Road in Douglas, where anyone with a small business can pop in and see one of Browne Craine’s friendly accounting team for a free chat.
So, whether it’s someone who is thinking of starting up their own business, has already set up their own business or has even been in business a little bit longer, and has questions about how they should be efficiently maintaining their accounting records, the accountancy clinic has been designed to help.
James added: ‘We like to think that we’re not just here to help people with their accounting needs but any other business queries they might have too.
‘Browne Craine has more than 65 years of experience in most sectors of business as well as recent investments in technology to ensure the firm is at the cutting edge of the profession.
‘If someone is thinking about starting their business, we’d encourage them to come and talk to us, so that we can share our experiences and provide any guidance we can.
‘It’s great for the Isle of Man that more people are wanting to start up a business here and we hope that this will encourage more people to explore the Isle of Man as a potential business destination.’
