Talented teenager Alexandra Slater was the star of the show at the Christmas lunch for the island’s biggest business network.

The singer and actress was 2017’s Young Actress of Mann winner.

She provided entertainment by singing a number of songs including her own take on Skyfall, made famous in the James Bond film.

Business people from across the island gave the 17-year-old rapturous applause at a packed Woodbourne House in Douglas.

Alexandra’s show-stopping performance took place towards the end of the meal which included two courses followed by homemade mince pies.

Master of ceremonies at the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce Christmas lunch was Chris Allen, who took over as president in September.

Chris thanked Chamber members and guests for attending, and the staff of Woodbourne House for their hospitality.

In his speech he reflected on Chamber’s activity throughout 2017 and also gave an insight into plans for 2018.

Among the guests were Chief Minister Howard Quayle MHK, Treasury Minister Alf Cannan MHK, and Department for Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly MHK.

Mr Skelly, who was the guest speaker, spoke about the importance of Chamber’s role in the island’s economy and business community, and explained the Department for Enterprise’s plans to develop four public/private sector agencies covering the finance, digital, business and visit sectors.

A raffle held at the Christmas lunch raised £1,250 for Junior Achievement Isle of Man.

The Christmas lunch was held last Wednesday.
