A company that acts as a broker between entrepreneurs and investors is celebrating its third birthday.
Douglas-based Manninvest has mentored more than 40 companies helping them in getting their businesses ready for external investment.
The team introduces them to investors who are looking to provide a cash injection to help with further growth and development in return for a stake in the business.
Co-founder David Butterworth said: ’We work with individual investors and investment companies, some are island based, others are in the UK or in jurisdictions further afield.
’We work on building long-term relationships with them and partnering them with businesses which meet their unique investing criteria.
’We focus on post revenue, pre-profit companies who have already proved a need for their product or service but which are at the stage where they need further investment to scale up.
’In the past three years we have been involved in a wide range of sectors, including renewables, eco, tech, educational and traditional distribution.
’Our intention is to enhance and strengthen our relationships with investors, offer more mutually beneficial business opportunities and increase our deal flow.’
Manninvest also supports the island’s business community through its offices at Skanco Court, Cooil Road.
Tenants don’t have to take out long-term leases.
Mr Butterworth added: ’From collaborative hot desks to private office suites, people can tap into the facilities of a large office but with lower overheads. What is unique about our office ecosystem is the wrap-around services we provide. In addition to mentoring we arrange practical seminars specifically aimed at businesses addressing marketing, sales, cyber security, human resources and pitch preparation.
’Our personal networks mean we are able to make introductions to assist with all sorts of business issues such as accounting, promotions and structuring.
’The offices are for permanent use, single assignments, board meetings, presentations and medium-term special projects and we are really pleased that more than 100 people have been able to make use of them."
Barclays Eagle Labs has teamed up with Manninvest to host a practical workshop on how to pitch a business idea to potential backers on Wednesday, September 24.
The free session will shed light on what investors are looking for and there will be advice on how to structure a pitch content.
