Volunteers from Old Mutual International have been working hard to support the Beach Buddies charity.

A total of 18 employees spent a day cleaning up beaches at Blue Point on the north west coast and Ramsey Promenade.

They collected more than 18 bags of rubbish – and larger items too big to fit into refuse sacks, including a manhole cover, balls of barbed wire, tyres, and large pieces of scrap metal.

This was the second time in recent months that Old Mutual International employees have helped the charity which was founded by Bill Dale BEM.

The volunteering exercise is part of a range of Old Mutual International initiatives to support local charities, and help communities prosper.

Another example is the company’s annual charities of the year programme which invites employees to nominate two Isle of Man charities to support.

Last year, staff raised funds in a variety of ways – including cake bakes, dress down Fridays – and the £30,000 total raised was divided equally between ManxSPCA and Alzheimer’s Society Isle of Man.

The company is based at King Edward Bay House, King Edward Road, Onchan.
