Law firm M&P Legal has announced two changes in its staff.
The firm’s advocate Damian Molyneux has been appointed a director of M&P Legal.
In addition the practice has welcomed back its Spanish advocate Consuelo Suay Cortes after her spending a period as senior legal counsel.
Damian qualified as an Isle of Man advocate in 2007 and has spent most of his legal career with M&P Legal.
He previously worked in the finance sector and has therefore developed niche expertise in financial advice claims, a growing market in recent years.
Damian has advised both financial institutions and claimants in relation to allegedly negligent financial misselling advice.
He has also spoken at seminars and is published on this subject.
Damian’s litigation practice at M&P Legal extends to complex insolvency work, regulatory enforcement, medical negligence defendant work, personal injury claims and overseeing general commercial and civil litigation matters.
M&P Legal’s head of litigation John Aycock said: ’Damian has been with us for more than a decade now and, with his previous industry experience, he has shown great maturity in advising clients on some very difficult dispute matters. His attentive and commercial approach to resolving disputes is exactly what this firm promotes and we are very happy for Damian to join the board of directors of M&P Legal’.
Consuelo qualified as an Isle of Man advocate in 2008 and is also a Notary Public in the Isle of Man. She is understood to be the only lawyer who has the three-fold qualification of Abogado in Spain, Solicitor in England and Wales and Advocate in the Isle of Man. Accordingly she is the go-to person for Spanish related legal matters for Isle of Man based private and commercial clients.
Consuelo established herself professionally in the Isle of Man with M&P Legal before taking up the position of senior legal counsel with a large local insurance and investments sector company advising in-house.
Her return to M&P Legal will see her resume private practice.
As well as working on Spanish related matters, Consuelo has expertise in a broad range of Manx corporate law matters including mergers and acquisitions, commercial and financial transactional work, general commercial and insurance law. In addition she is forging a new speciality advising high net worth clients with separation and divorce issues.
The head of M&P Legal’s commercial department Chris Murphy said: ’We are delighted to have Consuelo back on our team.
’Her experience gained whilst working in-house has added an extra dimension to her already broad spectrum of expertise.’
