The Isle of Man Post Office’s headquarters will have reduced opening hours from January as the services makes more cuts.
Starting from January 6, the post office’s customer service counter at the Spring Valley Industrial Estate base will open later and close earlier in a move it says ’are reflective of this allowing the counter to be staffed appropriately’.
The new opening times will be 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturdays. Currently the counter is open from 7am to 7.30pm during the week and 7am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
A statement by the post office said that the change followed a ’review of its opening hours and when customers are choosing to use the counter’.
It added: ’The opening hours continue to provide convenience for customers who may need to use a post office weekdays before 9am and after 5pm or on a Saturday if they are busy during the working week.
’There will be no change to the services provided at this counter, which include all postal services, Redirection and KeepSafe applications, MiCard and bill payments as well as foreign currency. There is also a self-serve kiosk available at the counter should people wish to use if the queue is long.
’Additionally, we would also like to remind customers they can use our newly enhanced redelivery service which allows customers to log on to Isle of Man Post Office’s website and choose a convenient location from a selection of Island-wide sites e.g. POHQ to collect items from, after receiving a notice left card.’
The move is the latest cut in a turbulent 2019 for post office services following a reduction in letter deliveries, from six days to five, the closure of local post services such as at St John’s and Pulrose and staff going out on strike at the start of the year over pension and payment changes.
