An e-gaming company has raised £100,000 for Manx charities in a decade of business in the Isle of Man.
Newfield Limited, a company specialising in international racing and sporting events, has raised money through cycle challenges, Christmas raffles and ‘pie in your face’ stalls.
In its 10 years in the island, the staff have made donations and played a part in raising thousands of pounds for Manx charities.
Funds have been raised for local charities such as Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society Isle of Man and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Isle of Man.
Denis Mikan, chief executive officer of the Douglas-based company, said: ‘I am extremely proud to be marking Newfield’s 10th anniversary and very grateful to all of our employees for their hard work and dedication over the years. I look forward to seeing what fundraising ideas our staff come up with next.’
Last year, staff selected Victim Support Isle of Man as their charity of the year and donated £11,700.
Paula Gelling, manager of the charity, added: ‘Our workload has increased by nearly 25% over the last nine months and unfortunately the complexity of the cases and individuals has also increased.
‘Newfield were innovative in raising this money and have helped raise awareness across the community with other organisations by challenging other companies such as Conister Bank to a static bike race.
‘The money raised will be used to fund staff training. We would like to thank all the team at Newfield for their effort over the year, which will help us the help others.’
To celebrate this anniversary and fundraising milestone, Newfield will be planting 150 trees with the Isle of Man Woodland Trust during the coming year, which is at least one tree for each of their employees.
