Tough-talking businesswoman Michelle Mone, who now lives in the island, has told of the no-nonsense way she would deal with any work colleague who tried to be a sex pest.
The entrepreneur said there was ’nothing wrong with a bit of flirting in the workplace.’
The Scots-born 45-year-old added: ’But if it becomes something else and colleagues turn into sex pests then I’d give them a Glasgow kiss and that would sort them out.’
In the British Isles a Glasgow kiss is commonly known as a slang word for a headbutt.
The former Ultimo lingerie boss told in her autobiography, My Fight to the Top, how she rose from being a penniless Glasgow born schoolgirl to multi-millionaire businesswoman and Tory peer.
Now known as Baroness Mone of Mayfair she was asked by Celia Walden of the Daily Telegraph if she flirts in the workplace. She said: ’I have banter with people day in, day out. Whether that’s called flirting, I don’t know.
’But life is short and you can’t be serious all the time. We’re all human beings so there’s nothing wrong with a bit of flirting in the workplace.’
Lady Mone founded designer bra and underwear giant Ultimo in 1996, but announced her departure from the company in 2015.
This week’s Telegraph interview points out that she is now living in the Isle of Man with fellow Glaswegian businessman Doug Barrowman ’on his chateau-like estate.’
She is also launching a new global business venture called Michelle Mone Interiors to offer high-end bespoke interior design services around the world.
The new business has an office in Knox House, Finch Road, Douglas, according to the website.
An office in Mayfair, London is also mentioned and the website points out that an office in Dubai is to open soon.
Meanwhile Michelle has opened her heart about her romance with Mr Barrowman in this week’s Hello! magazine.
The couple invited the magazine into the sprawling, magnificent home they now share in the island.
Michelle said: ’My mum told me, ’’You won’t find love if you’re looking for it,’’ and, honestly, it was the last thing I was looking for.’
Michelle tells the magazine, she met Doug, 52, three days after splitting from golfing pro Stefan Soroka.
It is their first joint photo shoot and interview and resulted in a 10-page spread in this week’s edition of the glossy magazine.
Michelle tells Hello!: ’I feel like I’m in a fairytale. A beautiful dream I don’t ever want to wake up from.’
Doug, a father-of-four, and mum-of-three Michelle tell the story of their first proper date, on board the businessman’s £30m superyacht.
Michelle says: ’In every way, I came to see that I’d met my match in this amazing man and no one has ever made me feel as cherished or respected. Everything about our life together feels so natural; we have fun and laugh so much, we have the same outlook and drive.
’Even our kids could see it was meant to be.’
The couple opened the doors of the Isle of Man mansion, which comes complete with a fully equipped spa, swimming pool and hi-tech gym, helipad, amphitheatre and staff quarters.
’Michelle has brought love and kindness to my life,’ says Doug. ’I know it sounds corny but it’s true. She understands me.’
