Former Deemster David Doyle has been to Dublin to speak on an expert legal panel.
Mr Doyle retired as the island’s top judge and has gone back into private practice with Athol Street law firm Cains where he works as a legal adviser in the litigation department.
At the Asset Recovery International conference at the Conrad Hotel in Dublin, he took part in the ’View from the Bench’ panel, which also comprised of Edward Bannister CMG QC, a former commercial court judge from the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court based in the British Virgin Islands and Mr Justice David Barniville, a judge of the High Court of Ireland and Middle Temple Bencher.
The conference attracts asset recovery practitioners around the world and the agenda featured a number of sessions on fraud litigation, enforcement and contentious insolvency.
Mr Doyle said: ’I was delighted to speak at such a prestigious conference.
’Peter Clucas and I flew the Manx flag and in addition to meeting existing and future clients and legal contacts we informed the delegates of the latest developments in Manx law in the important and increasingly relevant area of asset recovery.
’It is good for Cains and for the island to be mixing with leading international judges, lawyers and insolvency practitioners.’
