After a slump between January and March, job opportunities are on the increase, according to the latest labour market report.

The highest number of vacancies are in catering and entertainment, with 177 positions advertised, and in medical and health services, with 116.

At the end of May, the jobless total was down by 144 on the previous month, with a total of 607 unemployed. Overall job vacancies were up 277 to 1,072.

A year earlier, the total figure stood at 1,283.

Of the total unemployed, 389 are males and 218 females. The unemployment rate stands at 1.4%
