One of the island’s best-known law firm bosses has been picked for a select ‘hall of fame.’

Alan Gough, founder of Gough Law, has been selected to take his place in the prestigious Legal 500 accolade.

Mr Gough has achieved this status as a result of being consistently praised for the last eight consecutive years for exceptional legal talent by both his clients and peers in the legal world.

Mr Gough heads the litigation team at Gough Law which is based in Anglo International House, Bank Hill, Douglas.

He said: ‘I am so pleased to have achieved this accolade from Legal 500.

‘At Gough Law we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver a high quality legal service while keeping client satisfaction as our primary objective.

‘I would like to thank everyone who took the time to offer feedback to Legal 500.’

Legal 500 researchers said: ‘With 40 years of experience in high stakes litigation Alan Gough’s presence underlines to the other side that there is a serious matter at issue.’

They add that he is ‘widely acknowledged as the Isle of Man litigator of choice for the most demanding cases’.

For the last 27 years Legal 500 has been providing research on leading law firms across the globe. Conducting interviews and providing up to date information across 106 jurisdictions, it is widely accepted to be the most comprehensive assessment of the quality of legal service in the world.

On the Gough Law website Mr Gough is described as the head of the litigation team with vast experience in all areas of the Isle of Man’s legal practices.

It adds: ‘Regarded as one of the island’s foremost practitioners in the fields of asset tracing and injunctive relief, Alan is well regarded by his clients for his vigorous yet pragmatic approach. He is regularly instructed by some of the island’s wealthiest residents and by major international law firms.’

Alan Gough is no stranger to the pages of Business News.

He has written specialist features on legal matters.

Last September he reviewed a decision which gave Manx liquidators greater scope than simply winding up a company’s affairs.

He also contributed a short series of articles for Business News in which he looked at some of the historical changes inthe world of Manx advocates and the law.
