Pint-sized Emma Mann is nearly dwarfed by a supplement which showcases the pulling power of the island.

Emma, 26, told Business News: ’I’m 5ft 2ins and the centre spread is almost as tall as me.’

Manxwoman Emma has put weeks of planning into the special publication which will be inside next week’s Courier.

The former Ballakermeen High School pupil admitted the project has been close to her heart and said: ’This has been my baby.

’I think this will certainly get everyone talking.’

Emma added: ’The line will be that the Isle of Man is a great place to live, work and play.’

Emma has been with Isle of Man Newspapers for the last seven years in various roles, her latest being media sales consultant.

And she will be in Knowsley, Merseyside, at the News Printers printing centre, next Thursday night to oversee the printing of the Courier and the extra special supplement.

Readers will be able to pull out the supplement which will be packed with fascinating information with the theme of ’Destination Isle of Man.’

It will pull out into 16 fact-filled pages on all sorts of aspects of island life.

Emma said: ’The idea was to run a campaign that pulls everyone together and promotes how great the Isle of Man is.’

Highlights will include an interview with lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone, who recently moved over here to live.

There will also be a lifestyle section and a look at what the Isle of Man has to offer to people thinking of coming to live and work here.

Emma said:’The safety aspects of the island and the way everyone who lives here is close to the countryside and the beach.

’You haven’t got the same sort of hassle commuting to work as a lot of people face in England.

’And then the fresh produce over here is amazing.

’There is the fitness element of the Isle of Man. It’s the sort of place where you can go kayaking at the weekend.

’You can go cycling for 50 miles, and across different landscapes, and feel safe at the safe time.’

Inside there will be a corporate section including spotlights on telecommunications, recruitment agencies, eGaming. There will also be legal advice for folk thinking of coming and settling here.

There will be words from company directors who have already settled here.

Properties will also be featured in the mega-poster along with lots of facts and figures about the Isle of Man and some of its famous residents including entertainer Sam Barks and world-class cyclist Mark Cavendish.

Emma revealed that on the back the Isle of Man Post Office has offered free postage so that readers can send the supplement to people free of charge.

’They might want to send it to friends who went to uni and are now living elsewhere.

’People who might be thinking of returning to the island, they might have great IT skills or might have something else to offer.’

The poster comes hard on the heels of three previous advertising innovations in the Courier over the last few months:

l The ’scratch and sniff the coffee’ innovative ’wrap’ with Mannvend

l Special translucent advertising ’wrap’ with Derivco and

l A so-called ’barn door’ centre spread for Cycling Week.

Emma firmly believes readers will be fascinated and interested by what they find in next week’s Courier.

’And I think they will find it quite a lot of fun to read.’

Emma said she and colleagues were inspired and impressed by a recent marketing event at the Manx Musuem addressed by Mark Lewin, interim CEO for the Department of Economic Development, which is changing its name to the Department for Enterprise.

She is delighted to be working with the locate.im campaign.

Meanwhile, Emma has visited the Knowsley printers before and she has built up quite a rapport with staff there.

’Some of them have given me the nickname ’’Madame,’’ Hopefully they will allow me to flick the switch to get the presses rolling.’
