The rate of inflation in the Isle of Man has dropped, according to official government figures.
July’s annual figure is 2.3%. June’s was 1.3% higher.
Fuelling inflation were petrol and oil - up 13.9%, while oils and other fuels (a different category) shot up 45.4%.
The official consumer prices index statistics show that beer bought in off-licences was 7.2% cheaper than a year earlier. But beer bought in pubs was 3.3% more expensive.
Some of the figures appear inconsistent.
For instance, pork rose 14.6% but bacon was 0.9% cheaper.
Children’s outerwear was 21.5% cheaper than 12 months ago. Women’s outerwear was 5.8% cheaper but men’s was 0.1% more expensive.
On average, something that cost £1 in January 2000 would cost £2.07 today under the retail prices index.
