A company based in the island has been placed first in a league table, which ranks Britain’s top 100 private tech companies with the fastest growing sales over the last three years.
As well as being top of the league, plan.com also accomplished the highest sales rise figure in the last 10 years.
The Tech Track 100 is similar to other prestigious Sunday Times league tables, such as the annual Rich List and the Best Companies to Work For, which plan.com features in at number 14.
Other companies that have featured in The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 league tables include TransferWise, Funding Circle and Farfetch.
plan.com has created a software platform that allows customers to monitor their telecommunications in real time.
The communications provider came top of the table with a 364.38 per cent annual sales rise over three years
plan.com co-founder Keith Curran said: ‘We’re absolutely delighted to top The Tech Track 100 among such a strong group of the UK’s tech-focused businesses.
‘It’s the combination of everything we’ve worked for over the past four years.
‘Everybody at plan.com knows that we’re building something world-leading under Dan Craddock’s visionary leadership, and to have it validated by such a prestigious award is an incredible feeling.’
plan.com is currently based on Hope Street in Douglas, with the vast majority of its 100 plus employees living in the island.
The company is currently developing a ‘super HQ’ on Victoria Road, which will be opened next year.
The building will have seven floors and be ‘ultra-high tech’ in its infrastructure and vibe thanks to features such as its living walls, suspended meeting pods and a roof-top bar.
plan.com describes itself as a tech company at heart. ‘Our leadership and management team includes experts from a wide range of backgrounds including tech, law, finance and mobile,’ said Keith.
‘It’s one of the reasons that we stand out, continue to revolutionise the industry and achieve such incredible growth. Another reason is our clear focus on attracting and retaining the best people.
‘This means relocating those with unique skills and experience from all over the world, as well as recognising and investing heavily in the people who live here to ensure they fulfil their potential and exceed ours.’
A plan.com spokesman said: ‘We are thrilled about being recognised by the industry in this way. The Sunday Times rankings are a huge deal, they are a household name and recognised by the public and the world of business as something that can be relied upon.
‘The standard Fast Track 100 ranks all companies in the UK by their sales growth, but tech companies tend to have much higher rates than companies in other industries and that means that we rank number one on a list of companies who are miles ahead of everyone else in the UK.
‘We did not sponsor the event or buy a table – there is no money in this award and therefore, you can’t buy your way in or sway the judges in any way. It is based purely on approved, audited numbers – there’s no clever marketing, there’s no opportunity to dazzle the judges with fancy websites or brochures- we were recognised by the industry as a company doing great things.
‘It is important to say that although this is an award with tech in the title and our tech team is vital to our success, the key criteria is business growth- therefore, each and every one of us contributed to our success.’
