The annual rate of inflation in the Isle of Man has risen again.
It now stands at 4.6%, according to government statistics released today.
The November consumer prices index figure is 0.2% up on October’s.
It has been hit by rises in the prices of fuel. Petrol and oil has soared by 24.5% in the last 12 months.
The category ’oil and other fuels’ has shot up 63.4% and gas is up 19.1%.
Another big jump has been air travel, which is 72.3% more expensive than a year ago. Sea travel is 14.1% up.
As usual there are some strange anomalies.
While pork is 12.5% more expensive according to the government’s number crunchers, bacon is 1.1% cheaper.
Men’s outerwear got 2.6% more expensive, while children’s outerwear was 11.5% cheaper.
The retail prices index, which uses different measurements, is up 5.5%.
