Are you involved with an Isle of Man community group, charity, sports club, or school that could put a grant of between £100 and £1,000 to good use?

If the answer is yes, then why not apply for a Manx Telecom It’s Our Community scheme grant? Over the last 12 years the annual scheme has helped more than 160 charities, community groups, and other good causes on the island.

Applications are now being invited for this year’s scheme.

It’s a simple and straightforward process - just go to mt.im/itsourcommunity and fill in an online form explaining what your group does, and what you want the money for.

All of the applications will be considered on merit by a judging panel. Closing date for entries is September 30.

Grants can be awarded for a wide range of purposes such as buying equipment, decorating club rooms or other meeting places, or paying to produce leaflets or other materials to promote events - but there are many other possibilities.

To give you a few more ideas, here’s what three recipients in the 2018 scheme used their grants for.

ManxSPCA purchased a new dog bath for use at the charity’s kennels at Ard Jerkyll.

North Ramsey Bowling Club bought 12 sets of junior bowls so that club coaches could organise more taster sessions for children aged six to 14.

Isle of Play purchased equipment and materials essential for the running of the charity’s activities which encourage children to play outdoors, enjoy themselves, and develop new skills.

ManxSPCA, North Ramsey Bowling Club, and Isle of Play were among 14 organisations which received grants in the 2018 Manx Telecom It’s Our Community scheme.
