Another Douglas retailer is to put up the shutters for the last time.

Jeweller Charles Alexander is to retire and close his Strand Street shop at a date to be fixed.

He and wife Susan Jane opened a shop in Tynwald Mills in 1978 and moved to Strand Street in 1982.

Mr Alexander said: ’Deciding to close the business has been an incredibly difficult decision and we thought long and hard about it.

’But ultimately it’s the right decision for us.’

The shop will close on Sunday until Friday, October 12, to get ready for a closing-down sale.

On Saturday, October 13, it will open with 50% reductions on stock.

It will close when all the stock is sold.
