The government’s Land Registry is now publishing details of land transactions online.

The data will be updated every month and will show the address of the land that has changed hands, the consideration sum paid and in some cases the market value declared, the date of the transaction and the registration date. The data will not include details of the parties involved in the transaction.

John Wilkinson, director of the Central Registry, said: ’Through requests received at the registry, there is clearly a need to openly publish this data. The data will provide an objective comparison for banks, surveyors, estate agents and buyers/sellers who wish to have access to it. The Programme for Government commits to making more government information available and increasing transparency in the way government delivers its services and I believe this move to accessible information brings us even closer to this objective.’

Property transactions are featured every week in the Isle of Man Examiner.
