Laxey post office will now operate on shorter opening hours in the new year.

Sub postmistress Mary Palmer announced the new hours and said: ’The decision to reduce opening hours has not been taken lightly. It is a necessary step to ensure a continued service.’

When asked why these were ’necessary’ steps, Isle of Man Post Office declined to comment further.

The opening hours are:

lMonday: Closed.

- Tuesday: 9am - 1pm

lWednesday: 10am - 1pm and 1.30pm - 4.30pm

lThursday: 9am - 1pm

lFriday: 9am - 1pm and 1:30pm - 4:30pm

lSaturday and Sunday: Closed

Mary Gaffney, general manager of retail and customer services, added: ’We are committed to working closely with our partners to provide viable services that meet communities’ changing needs.

’The change in operating hours will allow quality services to continue at times which best serve the community.’

The new hours will be operated from January 3, 2022.
