Manx Telecom is able to face the future with confidence.

That’s the message from the company’s chief executive officer Gary Lamb following the publication of the company’s financial results for 2016 this morning (Wednesday).

A number of key decisions were made during the year, said Mr Lamb, including a transformation programme which he claimed will improve the company’s ability to compete in the fast changing telecoms world. He added that another notable development was the launch of Vannin Ventures, a subsidiary company aiming to identify new business opportunities.

Mr Lamb said: ’2016 has been another solid year for Manx Telecom and is in line with the board’s expectations.

’We continue to see growth across many parts of the company. Operationally it was a strong year with good take up of our broadband and mobile products, and strong growth in global solutions which is our division offering a portfolio of smart SIM solutions to UK and EU markets.

’We have undertaken a number of initiatives during 2016 which are aimed at generating future growth, and have continued to invest in our infrastructure and operational systems.

’Combined, these steps put us in a better place to grow Manx Telecom in the future, and will enable us to support our ongoing investment in the Isle of Man.

A statement released on behalf of the firm highlighted further achievements from the year included: continued investment in infrastructure for high speed broadband, investment in mobile network for 4G roaming; launch of 4G roaming for customers travelling off-island and for visitors roaming on Manx Telecom’s superfast mobile network; an agreement signed with China Unicom Global Limited to provide connectivity for its UK mobile and roaming product; world’s first medical technology trial to help those with hearing loss through the use of software to fine tune phone calls; acquisition of Partitionware to support development of innovative products and services.

Manx Telecom is listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange with the ticker MANX.
