Manx Telecom’s attempts to fix a widespread problem with broadband access have not yet been successful.

About 4,000 business and domestic customers across the island have been affected by the service outage which began at around 5pm on Monday night.

A spokesman said: ’Manx Telecom regrets that the ongoing issue with broadband for customers in certain areas of the Island has not yet been resolved despite a hardware upgrade taking place overnight.

’Engineers have been working all night and are currently restoring services in the north of the island that were impacted by the hardware switch.

’Our partners Nokia are working with us full time to resolve the situation and we will continue to work on restoring services for all those affected.

’We are also looking at alternative short term arrangements for customers with critical broadband requirements and will issue a further update later this morning.’
