Manx Gas has a new chief executive.

David Cruddace has taken up the role in succession to Ian Plenderleith.

The announcement was made by Islands Energy Group (IEG), parent company of Manx Gas, Guernsey Gas and Jersey Gas.

Mr Plenderleith, previously group managing director of IEG, recently left the business.

The IEG said Mr Cruddace ’has extensive experience having held senior management positions in a number of businesses’.

The Manx Independent was the first to report on June 25 that Mr Plenderleith had departed the company.

A post appeared on Linkedin which apparently indicated Mr Plenderleith was looking for another position. He was based at Manx Gas’s office in Murdoch House on South Quay, Douglas. Mr Plenderleith had been based in the island for more than two years.

We recently reported Manx Gas was being given notice to end its regulatory deal with the government.

The move came following a motion tabled by ousted minister Chris Thomas.
