A former King William’s College pupil has been appointed to head the Buchan School’s nursery.
Caroline Kipps Reid, who hails from South Africa, will head the Castletown private business when it opens on September 1 and will also be responsible for the school’s extra-curricular programme, including the new Buchan Rangers outdoor learning provision.
During her career in education, she has taught children from aged from two to 18.
Mrs Kipps Reid was the headteacher at a kindergarten in Knightsbridge in London before returning to the island last year with her two small children.
She completed a degree in education and psychology before going on to complete postgraduate training in early years and children’s therapy.
She and her husband moved to the island with their company promoting mental health and wellbeing.
From September, the Buchan School will operate its own in-house nursery provision.
’I am absolutely delighted to be joining the team and playing my part in ensuring the Buchan’s educational enrichment continues to thrive at all levels,’ said Mrs Kipps Reid.
’The school already has a clear wraparound care strategy which provides a personalised education, including breakfast and after-school clubs and holiday clubs.
’There is an increasing focus on outdoor education and all nursery and Buchan School children will have access to the Buchan Rangers outdoor learning programmes over the coming year.’
Head Janet Billingsley-Evans added: ’We are delighted to welcome Caroline to further strengthen our talented and professional team. As a former OKW it is clear she has a passion and drive to ensure the nursery school succeeds and that the children are the focus of everything we do. We wish her every success in her new challenge.’
A full day with lunch costs £52.
