Salaries in the island’s thriving eGaming sector are rising by 10 per cent year-on-year.
The largest increases have been in analytics roles, a new report has revealed.
The new survey by international recruitment and headhunting firm Boston Link has lifted the lid on pay in the business sector.
Cosmo Currey, head of talent acquisition, Isle of Man, says in the report: ’We have also seen a significant movement in CXO [executive level] roles which is in stark contrast to the previous years where we saw very little movement in among these senior positions.’
Chief Minister Howard Quayle stressed the importance of the business sector at the opening of the last KPMG eGaming Summit.
He said: ’We are obviously extremely proud of our eGaming sector, which is now the largest sector in the Isle of Man, making up 28 of our economy when combined with ICT. [Information and communications technology]
’The sector was a strong contributor to our growth, increasing by 15% year-on-year.
’[The summit theme] ’’Raising Standards Together", is a clear pointer to the professionalism of the sector here in the Isle of Man and our shared commitment to quality and service, and the preservation of our solid international reputation.’
Mr Currey points out that in 2018 ’we saw an unprecedented amount of hiring for eGaming firms on island.
’This was brought about through both extensive expansion of on-island firms and the relocation of businesses on the island. However of all the areas in eGaming, the biggest area of growth we are starting to see is within data and analytics.
’Currently eGaming is only just scratching the surface of what data can do to maximise the experience of the players and also its employees.
’As data is such a huge field we predict that very shortly we will soon see data scientists embedded into every team, and that data will become the foundation for every decision that is made within the business.
’Along with the growth in data science we are also seeing the industry turning away from traditional marketing roles and a step towards technical marketing roles such as PPC [pay-per-click] specialists, conversion rate optimisers and search engine specialists, which are all data led.’
Mr Currey added: ’Our findings show a 10 per cent year-on-year increase in salaries within the eGaming sector in the Isle of Man.’
Chief executive officers earn a salary of between £120,000 and £250,000.
Chief financial officers can expect a salary of between £90,000 and £200,000.
Chief operational officers can bank on earning between £100,000 and £150,000.
Head of legal/general counsel can expect to find their pay packet amounts to between £150,000 and £250,000.
Technology driven roles are becoming more important as more firms relocate to the island.
The report says demand for developers is increasing.
A data analyst can expect to earn between just over £20,000 and £60,000 in eGaming in the island.
An IT project manager’s salary is listed as ranging from over £40,000 to more than £80,000.
The report also says there has been a much greater focus on relocating talent to the island than there has been in previous years.
It notes this has been the case ’with very little of the specialist skills that are needed left on island.’
The report stresses: ’Relocating talent must be part of a company’s recruitment strategy.
’Although someone’s decision to move will undoubtably be impacted by many factors.
’Getting the right relocation package makes the ’’sell’’ of a new life seem that much easier.’
