It’s proving to be a ’crazy’ week for the island’s dog groomers as they are kept busy making sure their hairy four-legged customers are looking good after restrictions were lifted.

They told of their delight after being allowed to open up their businesses again this week.

Meanwhile hairdressers are preparing to be given the green light for when they can resume their businesses.

Sharon Killip, owner of mobile grooming business Vroom Groom, has been on the road this week in her converted Peugeot Boxer van which is fully equipped for tasks ranging from nail clipping to full wash and trims for pooches.

Mrs Killip, who started her business in 2017 after previously working at Strix, said: ’It’s been crazy, I have around 200 appointments to be made and I’m booked up to two or three months in advance. But it’s great to be allowed to work again.’

Sharon Kenny, owner of Vanity Fur, said she felt nothing but joy when she was able to open the doors of her business on Queen’s Promenade, Douglas, on Tuesday.

She has a waiting list of about six weeks and her four-legged ’customers’ were equally overjoyed to see her again.

Now Ms Kenny says she can’t wait for the day when she will be allowed to have a visit to the hairdresser.

Rob Breheny said he was ’very busy’ at the Grooming Room in Station Road, Port Erin.

The latest easing of coronavirus restrictions which came into force this week, allows pet grooming services to resume on a drop-off and collection basis and estate agents and surveyors to enter properties, although viewings of occupied homes will not yet be permitted. The island entered its third lockdown on March 3, following a sharp rise in Covid cases.
