E-gaming giant PokerStars says it remains committed to the island - despite relocating a number of senior staff.

PokerStars is one of the island’s biggest employers, with a workforce of more than 400.

Canadian parent company The Stars Group confirmed that a number of senior staff will be relocating to Malta and Dublin. It has licences or related approvals to operate in 19 jurisdictions.

It said: ’As a normal course of business, we work closely with multiple regulators and governments around the world to offer our products in a safe and fair manner consistent with our regulatory requirements and operate efficiently with a focus on optimising player experience and customer service.

’As a result of the recent decision to migrate more of our existing players to our EU licence, a small number - fewer than 10 - senior staff will be relocating to our existing EU-based offices in Malta and Dublin.

’The Isle of Man office will remain an important operational hub for The Stars Group’s central and shared services teams.’
